In preparation for our upcoming #shiftSXSW event, we would like to highlight a few of our special guests, and, in their honor, address topics that are near and dear to them. We are kicking off our series of events with a discussion about social convergence and connectivity, and this conversation would not be complete without our featured panelist, Brian Solis. A renowned thought leader of the new media space, Solis is well versed in the effects of emerging media on business and culture. He is an accomplished speaker, published author, and hosts a web series called Revolution with Brian Solis, now in its third season.
One episode of Revolution that stands out for us features Webby Awards founder and filmmaker Tiffany Shlain. In this installment, Shlain chats with Solis about her 2011 film Connected: An Autoblogography about Love, Death & Technology. This award-winning film talks about what it means to be connected in the 21st century. Solis has a strong affinity for this topic so it was only fitting that he invited Shlain to be a guest.
In the interview, Shlain discusses how her film uses personal experiences to demonstrate our need to be connected and how it affects every aspect of our lives. She also compellingly explores the emotional impact of connectedness. Shlain wants us to understand that issues like technology, economics, the environment, and healthcare can no longer be treated as separate ideas, and that there is a shift happening where technology is teaching us to think more interdependently.
And Solis could not agree more.
We are fortunate to have Brian Solis presenting “Revolution”: The SXSWi Edition with James Andrews at PGi’s #shiftSXSW event, powered by iMeet. Please join us in a powerful dialogue about the invasion of social media and its impact upon connectivity in mainstream society. We plan to ask and respond to questions such as:
- Has social media reached its peak or is this only the beginning?
- What is the true value of social media to businesses?
- At what point do we lose “followers” and win business?
Don’t miss this extraordinary event opportunity at #shiftSXSW—coming to Austin in March.
